How to Kill Wasps

Wasps are more than just a nuisance- they deliver painful stings and can scare both kids and adults from the great outdoors. If you have a wasp infestation, you are likely concerned about how to kill wasps without getting stung or making the situation worse.

There are two main options when it comes to wasp extermination- you can kill wasps yourself or you can hire a wasp exterminator to do it for you. An exterminator can do it quickly and efficiently, but the service may cost you $100 or more. If your infestation isn’t severe and you can easily get to the nest, you can get rid of wasps yourself without the added expense of an exterminator.

How to Get Rid of Wasps

Wasp killer spray is the most accepted method for killing wasps. These are poisons that are formulated to kill these bugs quickly before they are provoked to attack. Unlike many other poisons, such as ant poisons designed to kill slowly so that the poison is taken down into the mound, the fast-kill method is essential for wasp removal. Never use a poison formulate for other insects to get rid of wasps- it may be a slow-kill formulation and you could get attacked by multiple wasps defending their nest.

Another method of wasp control is the wasp trap. There are a number of commercial traps that will trap individual wasps within an enclosure and kill them. This is a slower method for killing wasps, but for those who don’t want to use poisons, it is a useful alternative. It is also possible to make your own wasp traps at home with just a few simple steps. When the wasps find the trap, they fly in and drown.
